Andrew Thomas (aka Thommo) is a respected Hunter Valley winemaker. He has earned his reputation doing what the Hunter Valley does best, making Semillon and Shiraz in an uncompromising manner.
Originally from McLaren Vale, Andrew has lived in the Hunter now for twenty years, thirteen of those spent as winemaker at Tyrrell’s. In 1997, Andrew started Thomas Wines with a view to making single vineyard Semillon and Shiraz that would rival the Hunter greats.
In 2008 and 2014 Andrew was awarded Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year, judged by his peers on his pursuit of excellence in winemaking and his contribution to the Hunter Valley Wine Industry.
It is Andrew's continued attention to detail, his dedication to making exceptional Hunter Semillon and Shiraz, and his hands on approach to every aspect of his winemaking that has earned him his nomination, enviable show success and a reputation as one of the Hunter Valley's leading winemakers.
