Saturday 23 June, 12:30pm.
Become a wine judge for the day as Andrew Thomas guides you through a tasting of Australia's iconic wine Penfold's 2011 Grange against Brokenwood's Graveyard, Thomas' Kiss and Peppertree's Limited Release Shiraz (winner of the James Busby Trophy and the Elliott Family Trophy at the 2013 Hunter Valley Wine Show).
Real wine judges don’t get to see what the wines are so neither will you! If you name the wines correctly you will enter in the draw to win an Icon Pack valued at over $500!
Andrew Thomas (aka Thommo) is a respected Hunter Valley winemaker. He has earned his reputation doing what the Hunter Valley does best, making Semillon and Shiraz in an uncompromising manner.
Originally from McLaren Vale, Andrew has lived in the Hunter now for twenty years, thirteen of those spent as winemaker at Tyrrell’s. In 1997, Andrew started Thomas Wines with a view to making single vineyard Semillon and Shiraz that would rival the Hunter greats.
In 2008 and 2014 Andrew was awarded Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year, judged by his peers on his pursuit of excellence in winemaking and his contribution to the Hunter Valley Wine Industry.
It is Andrew's continued attention to detail, his dedication to making exceptional Hunter Semillon and Shiraz, and his hands on approach to every aspect of his winemaking that has earned him his nomination, enviable show success and a reputation as one of the Hunter Valley's leading winemakers.
