Saturday 16 June, 11:00am.
Become a wine judge for the day as Liz Silkman guides you through a tasting of Australia's iconic wine Penfold's 2011 Grange against Brokenwood's Graveyard, Thomas' Kiss and Peppertree's Limited Release Shiraz (winner of the James Busby Trophy and the Elliott Family Trophy at the 2013 Hunter Valley Wine Show).
Real wine judges don’t get to see what the wines are so neither will you! If you name the wines correctly you will enter in the draw to win an Icon Pack valued at over $500!
Liz Silkman started her career in 1999 as a Lab Technician at Brokenwood Wines, after completing a Bachelor of Science degree at Newcastle University. In 2002 she accepted an Assistant Winemaker role at Tempus Two, where she spent 6 years, while completing her Graduate Diploma in Oenology from the University of Adelaide. Over her 19 years in the wine industry, Liz has gained a reputation for her fresh approach to creating wines truly expressive of the Hunter Valley.
Having been Dux of the Len Evans Tutorial, a finalist for Winemaker of the Year 2013 Gourmet Traveller Wine and the recipient of a swag of trophies and accolades for wines she has produced, Liz was awarded the Hunter Valley Winemakers of the Year for 2016 in recognition not only for Liz’s winemaking skills, but also her contribution to the Hunter Valley community.
