This release of Twenty Six Rows Chardonnay has been inspired by a parcel of fruit from one of the Hunter Valleys most iconic vineyards going back some 30 years, the De Bortoli Vineyard, located at the gateway to Pokolbin.
This Chardonnay is showing some funk this year. Whilst there is a purity to the fruit from the vineyard, we have managed to incorporate a little funk and roll this year, which was not entirely planned but we are excited by the result. The nose is showing lovely peach and mealy characters, along with cashew nut and a flinty component. The palate is bright and somewhat textural with lovely citrus drive and acidity, cheeky tropical characters complemented by a touch of vanillin oak.
A beautiful drink now, but this vintage should see 5+ years.
