Little Gem wines are only produced in outstanding vintages when the vines produce grapes of exceptional quality and balance. 2017 was certainly a Little Gem year. Suzanne Little was previously winemaker for Rosemount Estate where she was responsible for their range of premium Chardonnay. Her aim with the Little Gem is to make an approachable Chardonnay that is balanced and delicious.
This fruit was grown in the Broke-Fordwich sub region of the Hunter Valley from 22 year old vines. Made using only the free-run juice, the juice was fermented in 15% new French oak with the balance fermented in tank to retain its crisp and lively fruit character. Delicious stone fruit flavours with a textural mouthfeel and crisp finish. This is a delightful drink.
